In Copenhagen, developed countries should have made substantial commitments to the reduction of greenhouses gases for the next period after 2012 as mandated by the Kyoto Protocol. Instead of fulfilling their obligations, however, they promoted the so-called “Copenhagen Agreement” to kill the Kyoto Protocol and dilute its historical responsibility.

Why should the “Copenhagen Agreement” mean the end of the Kyoto Protocol?  What should be the commitments of developing countries to the reduction of greenhouses gases in the short and medium term? How should we perfect and improve the Kyoto Protocol so that it might accompilsh its purpose?

This objective of this working group is to analyze how the Copenhagen Accord affects the Kyoto Protocol and to put forth a proposal for the reduction of greenhouses gases by developed countries in accordance with the Kyoto Protocol.
